WHAT IS YOGA?

Simply put, yoga is the union of body, mind, and soul through movement (asana), breath (pranayama), and meditation.

IS YOGA A RELIGION?

Yoga is not a religion. Anyone of any faith or without a specific faith can practice yoga. While there is a spiritual side to yoga, you can choose not to practice that aspect. It can be modified to meet individual needs.

I’M NOT FLEXIBLE. CAN I STILL PRACTICE YOGA?

Definitely! In fact, if you’re not flexible or struggle with mobility, practicing yoga will help you become more limber.

I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION, CAN I PRACTICE YOGA?

Please consult your doctor if you’re concerned that practicing yoga may affect your condition. Many doctors will tell you that practicing yoga will help to improve your health. Please disclose any medical conditions to me before we practice together so that I can ensure your safety.

I CAN’T SIT STILL LONG ENOUGH TO MEDITATE. CAN IT STILL BE FOR ME?

Yes. I’m confident you can; you might be surprised by what you can accomplish if you put your mind to it. Let’s chat to figure out why you might be restless and I can guide you through a short meditation.

WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is universal energy. A trained reiki practitioner channels this energy and uses it to help cultivate an atmosphere of healing in the physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies.

WHAT IS MINDFUL EATING?

Mindful eating is considering what foods allow you to feel your healthiest. It is not a specific diet or method of eating but it does focus on eating more plant-based and local/organic animal products and less processed foods. Mindful eating also includes how much food we are eating, why we are eating the foods we do, listening to our bodies, where our food comes from, etc.

WHAT IS CONSCIOUS LIVING?

Conscious living is giving consideration to the way in which we live our lives. For example, how much plastic we use, how much garbage we throw away, what types of chemicals we are using, supporting local and regional producers, purchasing from companies whose business values resonate with our own personal beliefs, etc. It asks and answers the question: could we be more mindful about our impact on our planet?

WHAT IS REGENERATIVE LIVING?

Regenerative living goes beyond conscious living to make decisions that promote adding life to our planet. It is using our personal space (yard, flower beds, patios, roofs, etc.) to create habitat for native species (extra-special focus on pollinators) and food for ourselves and others.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A CONSULTATION?

We will meet in person at a local coffee shop (my treat!) or some other public place to see if we are a good fit for each other. I will ask you some questions and we will have a 30-60 minute chat to see how I can best serve you. You are under absolutely no obligation to book any additional sessions with me after the consultation.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

Private sessions are $88. A minimum of 3 sessions is recommended.

DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS OR CHARGE ON A SLIDING SCALE?

I feel very strongly that healing should be available to anyone regardless of their circumstance. If you are interested but feel like you cannot afford it, I am happy to work with you to determine a way for us to work together. Deep discounts are provided to teachers, schools, and non-profit organizations.

DO YOU DONATE ANY PORTION OF YOUR FEE TO NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS?

A minimum of 5% from each session will be donated to different organizations including: Yoga Behind BarsHuman Rights CampaignNRDC, and  various other local, regional, and global organizations working to help our planet and the beings who call it home.

WILL MY INFORMATION AND ANYTHING DISCUSSED BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?

Definitely. Two of the core tenets of yoga are satya (truthfulness) and asteya (non-stealing). I hold these in high regard and promise that all your information and anything we discuss will be kept in the strictest of confidence. I will never sell or distribute your email or any other personal information. While I have not taken a legal oath it is my solemn promise to you.

I LIVE FAR AWAY AND I WANT TO BOOK YOUR OFFERINGS. ARE YOU AVAILABLE?

Yes. I would love to travel to you. If I happen to be in your area, we can meet up for a session. Subscribe to my weekly newsletter and stay informed. If you live more than 30 miles away and would like me to travel to you, I do charge an extra fee. Contact me and we can discuss the various options.

I’m also happy to work with you virtually over Skype or another virtual meeting service. If this is something that interests you, let’s chat and see what would work for both of us.

WHERE DID YOU RECEIVE YOUR TRAINING?

I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in November 2017 through Hot Yoga Experience in Redmond, WA with Chelsea Boug and am currently working towards my 500-hour yoga teacher certification from Yoga Psychology: Yoga. Psyche. Soul with Ashley Turner. I will complete this training in November 2019.

I completed my level 1, 2, and 3a (master) Usui reiki certification in 2018 through Reiki Dome in Bellevue, WA with Alex Akselrod and am currently working on my 3b (teacher) certification with Aimee Phleger.

I’M INTERESTED IN LEARNING LOTS OF ARM-BALANCES AND HAND-STANDS. CAN YOU TEACH ME THOSE POSES?

If your primary focus is on learning strength moves like arm-balances and hand-stands, that’s great! However, I am probably not the right teacher for you. Contact me and I would be happy to refer you to some wonderful teachers who can better serve you.
